About the Wheel of ConsentThe
Wheel of Consent, developed by
Dr. Betty Martin, is a simple yet profound framework that illuminates the dynamics of giving and receiving. It invites us to notice who each action is for — and in doing so, transforms how we relate to ourselves and others with more clarity, safety, and joy.
“Friendly, engaging, inclusive, mindful, safe”“I had a great time, thanks <3”“Loads of benefits! Thank you”___________________
Accessibility at the VenueAt Komaia, we want everyone who visits to feel welcome, comfortable, and supported. While we are continually working to improve accessibility across our space, we believe it is important to be open about our current facilities so that you can plan your visit with ease.
- Massage & Workshop Cabin – Access is via a single step up into the space.
- Toilet Facilities – Our toilets each have one step to enter, and we have installed a higher toilet to assist those who may find this more supportive. There is a ramp that can be used for wheelchair access over the step.
- Optional quiet space outside of the workshop space, The Hush House – Our beautiful roundhouse is located on higher ground and currently requires climbing 11 steps to reach the space.
We recognise that this does not yet meet the full accessibility we aspire to provide, and we are committed to making further improvements over time. If you have specific needs, please let us know in advance – we will always do our very best to accommodate and support you during your visit.
“Really increased my confidence to listen to my yes, no, pause, desire and ask for what I want”“I learned that I can feel safe having a male bodied human touch me and it can be OK to touch them too with limits 😊”“The combination of theory, games, well thought out schedule, breaks and the teams humanness, honesty and making it fun!”___________________
Meet the Team:Sian Johnson (she, her):Sian discovered The Wheel of Consent in 2018, and it revolutionised her approach to her work with men as a masseuse and sex coach. More importantly, it profoundly impacted her personal relationships, creating more understanding and grace. Sian passionately believes in the potential of The Wheel of Consent to not only enhance individual relationships but also to create a positive ripple effect out into the wider world. She brings a down-to-earth, participant-led approach to her teachings, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees. As a white, native English-speaking woman who identifies as hard of hearing, neurodiverse and queer, Sian is committed to working through her own blind spots and actively welcomes participants who are often underrepresented in workshop spaces.
Sian welcomes invitations to teach The Wheel of Consent at festivals, trainings, and events.
www.sianjohnson.comSam Ntatalikas (she/they):Sam is a certified Love, Sex & Relationship Coach who trained with Layla Martin via VITA - Vital & Integrated Tantric Approach. VITA is one of the most extensive and advanced professional certifications in the world. Sam used modern neurobiology, holistic healing, embodiment practices, inner parts work and coaching to support relationships to thrive.
Chris Pope (they/he):Chris is currently studying tantra and bioenergetics, and is deeply engaged in embodiment through ecstatic dance and movement based practices. Their journey is rooted in lived experience, curiosity, and a genuine desire to understand how safety, consent, and presence support deeper connection in the body and in relationship.
Chris has five years of experience volunteering with a mental health charity, holding weekly in person peer support groups. Alongside this, they have completed Level 2 and Level 3 counselling training, which has shaped a grounded, reflective, and people centred approach.
Identifying as queer and gender fluid, Chris values inclusive spaces and brings warmth, humour, and attentiveness into group settings. They are here to support the container with care and humility, while continuing their own path of learning, growth, and embodied practice.
“It has transformed my awareness, I‘m much more likely/able to say what I want and not do things I don’t want”“I have a better understanding of myself and greater empathy for others. I am better able to communicate wants/needs and frame consent”___________________
Address and Directions The address is Glan Eden, Brynford, CH8 8LQ
If you’ve turned right at the cross roads, you need to stop where the 40mph road sign is, if you look to your right there’s a cottage and a bungalow next to each other (if you’re coming from the opposite direction past the golf club it’s a 20mph road sign and you need to look to your left). If you look between the cottage and bungalow you’ll see a long drive with a white bungalow at the end - that’s our bungalow. If you drive down the drive to the bungalow - to the left hand side that’s where the large cabin is and there will be space to park your car.
There is also a public car park right across the road, in a dog walk area, that's 2 mins away.
About Kamaia Nestled in the peaceful village of Brynford, North Wales, Komaia is more than just a space – it is a living sanctuary, lovingly created to nurture both people and animals.
Komaia began as an Animal Sanctuary, with a small flock of rescued hens and orphaned lambs, and grew from there.
What started as a family project soon grew into a thriving haven filled with life, friendship, and a shared purpose.
The sanctuary blossomed into a hub where wellbeing, community, and care for animals intertwined beautifully.
Today, the space continues to support animals, while focusing more deeply on wellbeing, education, and community connection.
Komaia is home to treatment rooms offering a range of massage therapies and sound healing practices.
Among the most cherished additions is The Hush House – a roundhouse lovingly crafted by Katey & Craig, the owners, from the great ash tree that once stood on the land.
Reborn into a circular sanctuary, it has become a space for meditation, breathwork, sound baths, and sharing circles – a place where people feel held, safe, and inspired.
Beside it lies The Ember Ring, a stone firepit, where countless stories have been told under star-filled skies, and marshmallows toasted in warmth and laughter.
Komaia is more than a venue – it is a sanctuary for the soul. A place where people come to rest, heal, connect, and create.

Exploring Brynford & BeyondOne of the joys of visiting Komaia is the opportunity to explore the beauty, history, and sacred sites that surround us here in North Wales. Our land is rooted in an area rich with heritage, natural wonder, and places that invite stillness, reflection, and adventure.
St Winefride’s Holy Well – Holywell (5 minutes)
Just a short drive from Komaia lies St Winefride’s Well, one of the oldest continually visited pilgrimage sites in Britain. Known as the “Lourdes of Wales,” the holy well has drawn visitors for over 1,300 years. Its waters are said to hold healing properties, and many come seeking both spiritual connection and peace of mind. The site is steeped in legend, linked to the story of St Winefride, and the small chapel and gardens surrounding the spring make it a truly special place to pause and reflect.
Greenfield Valley Heritage Park – Holywell (7 minutes)
Nestled within 70 acres of woodland and tranquil lakes, Greenfield Valley Heritage Park blends history and nature beautifully. Once home to mills and factories that shaped the area’s industrial past, the park now offers walking trails, historic ruins, wildlife, and family-friendly exploration. It’s a wonderful spot for a gentle stroll or a picnic, with plenty to discover for those curious about North Wales’ heritage.
The Clwydian Range & Offa’s Dyke (15–25 minutes)
For those who love the outdoors, the Clwydian Range – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – is right on our doorstep. Its rolling hills and heather-clad summits are perfect for walking, with breathtaking views across Wales and into England. The ancient Offa’s Dyke Path, stretching along the Welsh-English border, passes through the range and offers walks of all lengths for both seasoned hikers and those seeking a gentle ramble.
Talacre Beach & Point of Ayr Lighthouse (20 minutes)
A short drive north takes you to Talacre Beach, a wide, sandy shoreline with miles of open space and dunes. Here you’ll find the striking Point of Ayr Lighthouse, a much-photographed landmark that stands proudly on the beach. It’s a place where sea, sand, and sky meet beautifully – perfect for a beach walk, paddle, or simply breathing in the salt air.
Loggerheads Country Park – Mold (25 minutes)
A beautiful riverside park with woodlands, cliffs, and caves, Loggerheads is a local favourite for walking and wildlife spotting. With its mix of gentle trails and more adventurous climbs, it’s an ideal family-friendly day out.
Moel Famau – near Mold (30 minutes)
The highest hill in the Clwydian Range, Moel Famau is crowned by the Jubilee Tower and rewards walkers with panoramic views stretching as far as Snowdonia, the Wirral, and even the Isle of Man on a clear day.
Chester – Historic Roman City (30 minutes)
Just half an hour away, Chester is perfect for a day trip. Walk along the Roman walls, explore the cathedral, and enjoy the famous “Rows” – unique two-level shopping galleries. With its mix of heritage, independent shops, and riverside walks, it’s a wonderful way to spend the day.
